*ARTIST STATEMENT* I am a southern, trans man who went to the Tennessee Capitol March 2023 to confront the dehumanization I face in the name of “God’s love.” I made a statement of rage against the onslaught of transphobic laws rippling across the nation starting from my hometown. We must stop the unrelenting trans genocide in America justified away “in Jesus’ name.” If Jesus Christ existed, he wasn't white. That propaganda shrouds centuries of genocide, colonialism, and oppression inflicted upon Black, brown, Indigenous, disabled, queer, femme, and trans people long before the country's inception. Lawmakers think they can hide their bigotry and fascism under a crown of thorns they push onto the heads of people they fear. They see the antichrist in the faces of those they oppress. An enemy of their own design. The safety and future of trans people are hanging in the balance but the battle isn’t lost. We need our allies and our supporters to speak loudly and fight back along with us. We are organizing not only for our rights as trans people but liberty for all people who find themselves the enemies of white Christo-fascism. I want to believe that music inspires hope and changes minds. This is my contribution. To my trans siblings, please don’t give up. Our greatest act of rebellion is staying alive when they want us dead. - FD
